How To Get Your Own Website - Lesson 3

Now that you have a domian name, you need a web host. Like I said earlier, you can host your domain and your web site with the same service, or you can can have the two hosted seperately. Your decision will be based on the different packages these services offer. For example, one service might offer affordable and flexible domain hosting but have a site hosting package that is not too attractive, and vice versa.
Let me use a flexible arrangement I know as an example. By the way, I do not have any affiliation with either Yahoo or Superb.net. I’m merely recommending them because I use them. I host my domains with yahoo. fast and convinient. I host my websites (I do have a couple of them) with Superb Hosting, robust and functional. Remember I mentioned how to set up your domain name to connect to your hosting package earlier in this series. Ok. Now you need to set up your hosting package to connect to your domain name. I’ll just walk you through the steps.
Go to www.superb.net
Click on I need a web site
Click on Small business plan/more. This costs between $14.50 - $20 per depending on the billing option you select.
Click on order.
Enter your domain account and payment details. I hope you have signed up with Graphcard.
Go to mycp.superb.net to set up your account.
When you log on to your account you will see something like the screenshot shown below
The account comes with one IP address. Fisrt thing you’d want to do is resolve this IP address to your domain name. Some like what is shown next
This is all you need to set up your first website. What’s next? You need to build a website. Do you need to know HTML, JavaScript or CSS? Have you heard of Content Management Systems (CMS)? Lesson 4 is coming.
