You can make money online if you are willing to learn how
May 6th, 2006
Making money online is not easy. Actually let me correct myself, making money online can be costly if you don’t know what you are doing.
Can you imagine an untrained person wanting to succesfully carry out open heart surgery? They will fail woefully. A trained surgeon can succesfully do a few every week. The difference between myself and a trained surgeon is he has gone through at least 7 years of school and a few years of practice until it becomes easy for him.
Building a profitable business online does require knowledge and skill. The fact is most people online don’t make money because they don’t have a clue. My advice is to get educated and the fastest way to do this is to seek a mentor who is making money online legitimately.
Also I strongly suggest you get books by proven internet enterpreneurs where they share their secrets with you. I usually get 3 books on an area I want to develop expertise and for earning income online you can check.
1. Multiple streams of Internet Income-How ordinary people make extraordinary incomes online by Robert Allen
2. The E-Code: 34 Internet superstars reveal 44 ways to make money online almost instantly and
3. Web copy that sells: The revolutionary formula for creating killer copy every time by M Veloso
Also if you are interested in utilizing Google adsense you may want to get “Make easy money with Google: Using Adsense Advertising program” by Eric Giguere
Obviously these books are not very easy to get in Nigeria but you can check www.amazon.com and hopefully you can order online. Knowing that Nigeria is a cash economy, you may need to have a contact abroad to help you with the ordering. Please send them the money and don’t ask them to buy it for you or else you might have a long wait.
Maybe you might want to go into business selling these books in Nigeria, it seems there is a strong desire in Naija for online business skills.
I saw a comment by someone here saying he wanted to have a website, sorry to burst your bubble but having a website will not make you money, there is much more to generating online income than owning a website, you need to have a website that sells and you need to know how to generate traffic to your website.
I have a free course that is targetted at UK and US potential businesses but might offer you some tips. Just send a blank e-mail to keystobusiness@aweber.com with ’subscribe me’ in the heading and you will recieve my free 7 lesson e-mail course on starting a home business.
There is also the problem of credibility. Nigeria has a reputation for being dodgy and a lot of people online are skeptical when they come across a nigerian business online but hey don’t worry with time you will build credibility.
As long as you don’t want to become a millionaire overnight, plan to become an online enterpreneur. It takes time but with patience and dilligence we will all be smiling to the bank.
See you at the top.
cheers
DJ

i have for so long tried to go into internet trading but it had been quite difficult due to the fact that so many fraudsters are on the prowl.
i believe that what DJ has written on the statement he made, makes sense to try and educate yourself as best as you could and even though it may be tough, at least you will have an idea of what you are letting yourself into.
having said that, if there are any recommendations you can make about how to start, please let me know
Ayo
