like you pointed out, internet has remain a big challenge in Nigeria in terms of availability and affordability.The penetration is quite still low although it is picking up. However, making money on line goes beyond having internet access. It requires such as valid mechant accont, credit card etc. it very unfortunate that credit cards issued by Nigerian banks are not very much accepted by the online communities.
The activities of scammers on the internet are not helping matters, which have frustated genuine people from carrying online business. Our Banks either have not encouraged us. Processes involved in acquiring a Credit card is cumbersome and very frustrating for an average guy. All these indices put together makes it dificult carrying out online business in Nigeria.

We still have a long way to go before we can begin to harness fully and benefit from the potentials of internet for business transaction in the country. This is as a result of a number of reasons. First, a large number of Nigerians who may wish to transact businesses online are not computer literate and by extension not internet aware to do so. second, there is a limitation on the use of computers in the country due to failure of PHCN to provide the needed power required to power computers to have internet accesss. Another challenge that must be overcome before a successful online business transaction is that of scammers. Many prospective online business dealers are scared of internet businesses, for fear of lossing their hard earned money to dubious people.
